Getting dental work done isn't always very budget-friendly. While routine cleanings and single fillings don't typically cost a great deal, other types of dental treatments can end up being quite pricey. For families that have insurance, this isn't a big deal; however, these days, many people are without dental insurance. This means that many people are visiting the dentist and leaving with rather hefty dental bills.
Paying Dental Bills
Many dental offices have started their own dental practice financing options recently. These financing options allow people to make payments on their outstanding bills rather than having to pay for the entire amount in one large lump sum.
Many dental practice financing systems set patients up with monthly payments, dividing the amount of the bill due by a certain number of months in order to come up with a monthly dental bill. Other dental practices allow patients to pay any amount toward their bill (above a certain minimum amount) each month and/or at each dental office visit. Most dental practice financing plans do not start out charging any type of interest; however, many plans do begin to tack on interest after a given amount of time.
Advantages of Dental Practice Financing
Many patients appreciate the availability of dental practice financing plans because without such a plan they would be otherwise unable to afford to visit the dentist for anything more costly than a routine cleaning. Also, dental practice financing plans are often preferable to private company plans because there are usually no credit checks to pass or no other work to be done in order to take part in the plan...patients can simply participate by asking to participate in the plan.
Finding a Dentist Offering Financing
Not every dental office offers financing, of course. If dental practice financing is an important issue for you, it will be necessary for you to do some research in order to locate a dentist who does offer dental practice financing plans. To do so, you can try asking friends, family members, colleagues, or neighbors if they visit a dentist who offers financing. Or, try looking in the phone book-some dentists have large advertisements in the phone book that indicate their specialties and that may say if they offer financing. You may need to call some dentists out of the phone book as well just to see if you can find one that has financing plans.
